Do you ever feel like you just need to escape your normal daily life and travel somewhere new to get out and explore a little more? Even if just for a day?
Well last week I had ‘one of those days’ and decided to invite my mum on a road-trip for a day out in my favourite part of the world, The Cotswolds. If you read my blog regularly and follow me on Instagram then you will know I have visited quite a few times over the past couple of years, but I always find there’s new places to visit that I’ve never been to, or sometimes I honestly don’t mind going back to where I have already been, seeing as it’s just so beautiful and tranquil.
This time I did decided to venture to new grounds and couldn’t wait to visit the beautiful fields of lavender at the ‘Cotswolds Lavender Farm’ for an exciting photo shoot. The Cotswolds Lavender Farm is located in the pretty village of Snowshill, which can be found in the county of Worcestershire, near the beautiful town of Broadway. It also gets a big thumbs up from me and many others, as it’s dog-friendly! Perfect for those Summer day walks.
The family run business welcomes tourists onto their land every year to explore the vibrant variety of lavender, meadow flowers and even camomile. I honestly didn’t realise how many varieties of lavander there was until we paid a visit. From the whimsical ‘Peter Pan’ to the more traditionally named ‘Rosea’, there are around 40 varieties of lavender that coat the hills in shades of purple in the Spring. The lavender is then harvested in its prime (usually around late July), so there’s only a short window to experience these breathtaking scenes.
I’ve never seen so much Lavender in my life…I felt like I could have been in the hills of Provence (the heat and sunshine helped create that feeling also)! It was amazing to hear the noise of all the bees happily buzzing away, as they rather like lavender, which I have quite a lot of it at home to keep the little guys happy.
As it was quite warm (but luckily not too hot for furry friends like my dog King Louis), I kept it simple and cool outfit wise, styling skinny jeans from H&M, an over-sized pretty white shirt from Zara, pink marble ASOS sunglasses and my current favourite tote bag for this season, from the wonderful Tillyanna
This bag* is not only super pretty and Instagram worthy, but can be personalised at no extra cost (err WOW)! It’s also super practical and great as a daily shopping bag, beach-bag, picnic bag..even a temporary camera/laptop bag for me last week!
As I previously mentioned, it’s such a bonus for me that the farm is dog-friendly. I couldn’t resit a little photoshoot opportunity with King Louis The Shihtzu, for an up-coming project I am working on.
He is the cutest furry little model EVER and is most certainly my dog, being a photographer and all..
I would very happily retrace my steps tomorrow and return to Cotswold Lavender farm and Broadway. It’s like a different world up there, so peaceful and calm but still a good buzz of energy in the air (and not just from the bees)!
If you’d like to enjoy a dreamy day trip here as well, look up their website for updates on the fields so you can time your visit accordingly.
